An Unforgettable Inter-Purok Basketball Game
On June 4, 2026, our basketball game started at 5:00 PM as part of the Inter-Purok tournament. This was already our fourth game of the competition. At that point, our team had two losses and one win.
This game was especially memorable because some of our opponents were acting overly confident and boastful. However, despite that, I reminded myself that there should be no hard feelings in sports. The unfortunate part was that I got punched in the stomach during the game, but I chose not to retaliate. Basketball is a game, and I believed that keeping my emotions under control was more important than responding with anger.
Despite the challenges, we played well and enjoyed the game. The atmosphere was exciting, with cheers and shouts from the crowd throughout the match. After the final buzzer, we thanked God because we won the game, and most importantly, none of the players were seriously injured.
This experience taught me an important lesson. Even when someone pushes or hurts you on purpose, discipline should always come first. Sports are meant to be enjoyed, and it is important to respect the game, your teammates, and your opponents. Winning feels great, but maintaining self-control and good sportsmanship is even more valuable.
“True strength is not shown by fighting back, but by having the discipline to stay focused and respect the game.”
